The Maureen Crisp Young Scholars Fund
The fund is set up to provide grant support for post-graduate scholars intending to present an academic paper to The International Byron Society at its annual conference in which ever country that happens to be. The student should be studying Byron and/or the Romantic movement full time, for a higher degree at any University in the United Kingdom.
Applications may be submitted at any time and should include a CV and the names of two referees, an abstract of the paper to be read, details of the conference together with proof of the paper's acceptance by the conference organizing committee. The full cost of attending the conference should also be included.
In the event of the scholar being unable to attend the conference for whatever reason after a grant has be made, then the grant will be repayable in full forthwith to the Maureen Crisp Young Scholars Fund. The Trustees of the fund have complete discretion in the giving of grants and acceptance of an application does not mean a grant will be given.
The Fund has so far contributed to six young scholars who attended the 27th International Byron Conference in America in 2001 and to one attendee to the 28th International Conference in Japan 2002.
